I've been in thailand for 5 months (1 visa run with short overstay). Tried to open a company and get a wp but got scammed (hence the overstay).
im considering going for a few months to bali, applying there and coming back on DTV.
i have the money in the bank, but my income is very unstable as i do some group coaching twice a year and thats where most of my income comes from
i have my own company, could pay myself a salary
any advice or things i should read on? would be greatly appreciated. im a south american national but also have european passport if it makes any difference.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is exploring their visa options after a recent overstay in Thailand, caused by a scam while attempting to establish a company. They are considering traveling to Bali to apply for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). There are mixed opinions on the implications of their overstay, but some suggest that having financial means and a company to back their application may mitigate potential issues. Additionally, there are comments about alternative routes involving courses such as Muay Thai, but consensus leans towards applying for the DTV directly considering their self-employment status.
You have money is account and even twice a year You have an income to support Yourself thru the year. You have abroad company where You can provide Your own letters proving You can work remotely. You have everything You need to apply for remote work DTV . I had overstay stamps in my passport and get DTV without problem as even they didn’t check it. Try to input Thai departure and Bali arrival stamp on the different passport page than Your overstay stamps and good luck.
Anonymous participant 117 right.. so using his sketchy business on top of the overstay would be more likely to be rejected compared to a soft power activity where he already paid someone in Thailand. Though maybe he still could get rejected on soft power and lose the class tuition also
Anonymous participant your overstay isn’t tied to your passport… it’s an offense. Just like you can’t get out of a trafic infraction because you have a new driver’s license or lost it. An overstay is tied to the person. That said, taking classes is a very small requirement to have access to a long stay visa. The only other options are the elite visa (but your overstay could affect your chances), a retirement visa if your overstay 50, or getting married.
impossible to get Elite Visa (Thailand Privilege) with overstay. They will deny you immediately, it's in their terms and conditions. And you will loose so much money because have to pay part of the visa when you apply.
