TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a 90-day retirement visa that expires on February 28, 2026. They are seeking advice on how to obtain another 60-day visa exemption without applying for the one-year extension of stay. Comments indicate that the user must leave Thailand before the current visa expires and can re-enter under the visa-exempt rule, which may depend on their recent immigration history. Alternatives discussed include the possibility of getting a 60-day extension for visiting Thai family if they meet specific conditions or consider applying for a one-year extension by demonstrating consistent income.

There are only 2 options available to you. If you have immediate Thai family you can get a 60 day "visit Thai family" extension OR you leave Thailand when your current visa expires and come back with either another visa or a visa exempt stamp. Other than that you're alternative is a 12 month extension of stay

Kevin O'donnell l wouldn't say blag Kevin. He got a 90 day retirement visa after meeting the criteria at home . He wants to have more holiday time here (no border bouncing). Many people do what he does and many people get 3 or 4 entries ( for example on visa exempt) in a year, no problem. Maybe after 6 months in 12 months he might come into trouble. Who knows! Take care

Mike Davies if you want to get the 1-year extension with proof of 65,000 income, you need to get a Thai bank account opened and START transferring into it from the UK a minimum of 65,000 THB every month, month for month, not missing out any month. Your embassy does not issue income affidavits anymore, so you can only use the income method proof on Immigration with a 12-months bank letter that confirms the consecutive transfers

Mike Davies . . . if you don't apply for the 1-year extension of the stay permit based on retirement, you need to exit Thailand before the 90-days stay permit expires, that you are on at the moment. You can re-enter visa-exempt and get stamped in for 60 days, however this depends on your stamp history of the recent 365-days period, and is decided on the sole discretion of the Immigration officer you are standing in front of. If you have an excessive stay history during the recent 1-year period, you could be denied entry

Greg Alexander I’ve not been back to TH since July 4 Th 2023, I arrived on 1-12-25 this trip,. I’ve swerved the 1 year extension due to not being able to put 800k in thai bank acc which I also don’t have,. My travel insurance is valid for 182 days so I’d like to stay until that’s void, and that’s near the end of may,.

Mike Davies maybe it would be a good idea to get a Thai bank account opened while you are still in Thailand on a Non-Imm-O visa, on which you can definitely get a bank account opened. It might be useful for you at a later date, whenever you plan to go for the one-year extension

Mike Davies alright, on this travel history I doubt you will have any problems re-entering visa exempt. However to be 100% safe, I suggest you have the three famous proofs on you: 20,000 THB or equivalent, in cash. Proof of onward travel within 60 days. Proof of a few nights booked accommodation

You can only get a 60 days extension visiting Thai family if you’re married to a Thai or have a Thai child. Both has to be registered and documented in Thailand.
