Should my friend rush to immigration for his 90-day report if he hasn't received his receipt yet?

hello, my friend has applied for 90 day report online yesterday [due date], he has received the confirmation already, but no new receipt yet.

Should he rush to CW to do in person today or wait until next week wednesday [or thursday] and see if the mail comes late.

He is obviously worried to get fined.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared that a friend applied for a 90-day report online but hasn't received the new receipt after confirmation. The friend is concerned about potential fines and is considering whether to visit the immigration office in person or wait for mail delivery. Another user suggested waiting a bit longer to see if the receipt arrives, and if not, canceling the online application to refile in person next week, noting that the immigration office is closed on Monday.

I'd say he can wait to see if it gets approved today and if not, he should go into the system, cancel the pending report and go file in person next week.

remember immigrations is closed monday the 23rd

thanks for your fast reply,

yes he's got the application confirmed, but new receipt is pending. Which I know can take usually a few days. Shouldn't that mean he's off the hook fine wise, if the receipt comes late?

just because you file online before the due date doesn't mean you don't get fined if it just sits pending.

That 7 days after 2000baht fine still counts

I wonder why that is, a bit like a gamble every time, with their inconsistant approval times.

I remember doing it by letter mail once, proper 1 month before due date [by EMS sending date applies, not reception date], took them nearly 2 months to sent back the receipt, after many calls to them, but no fine, because I sent the application on time.

Shouldn't the same logic apply for the online process?

you are looking for logic where there is none,

I'm only telling you how it works

You can apply online from 2 weeks before right on down to the due date.

That you applied and got the "sucess of application" email (which comes out as soon as you submit the application online) doesn't count for anything.

It's the approval that means you DID a 90 day report online and if it's not approved by 7 days after the due date when you go in person you will get a 2000baht fine for failure to file a 90 day report in person within the 21 day window you're given..

That's just how it works

yes I remember in the beginning it was incredible fast, from same day to max 4 days. I was really impressed and happy about the convenience.

Now it looks more like a vicious game of chance, to catch people unaware [like me].

I will take your advise to heart and do the 13 days from now on.

Thanks again.

yes you are right, logic or common sense doesn't apply and my mistake for foolishly assuming it would.

I just got really lucky so far, that they always approved just in time, as I would have been in trouble otherwise.

Thanks for clearing that up for me and now I can avoid problems in the future.

I tell people, apply for the 90 day report online, about 13 calendar days before it's due, that gives them almost 2 weeks to approve or deny it, and if it's not approved by the due date, just go in the system, cancel it and apply in person (that still gives you 7 days to do it in person)

I don't know why they started holding the approval/rejections, as it used to be super fast turn around, but the way I outlined is about the best and safest way to avoid running past the 7 day after clause and getting a fine.

nope doesn't mean anything other than they applied online for the 90 day report. IF he's approved he's fine, but it isn't approved and he waits until 7 days after the due date before he goes to file in person he'll get the fine.

that is good to know, but quite illogical and challenging though, I usually apply a week before due date and once it took nearly 2 weeks to get finally the new receipt, on the very last day for me to go in person, without fine. Naughty game they play there.
