I got a visa rejection email today without any explanation. So now I’m wondering whether I should apply again next week at another embassy or wait six months before trying again. Please let me know if anyone has reapplied soon after being rejected and what their experience was.
Summary so far
The user received a visa rejection without explanation and is uncertain whether to reapply soon or wait. They seek advice from others who may have had similar experiences, but the conversation diverges into discussions about money exchange and SIM cards, which do not directly address the user's visa concerns.

use wise to learn what the current exchange rate is I find that they will give a really good indication. since you already have 6,000 baht you will not need to exchange anything at the airport. go to a mall and check out the rates at the kiosk. super rich tends to have some of the best rates I have heard but I've only used them once. if you're only staying for a couple weeks it's not a big deal you don't need to worry about it. but don't use your ATM card here if I was you bring cash. and make sure that every single bill is new and has no marks on it even a small market they will not take it. I've been here 2 years and I still have 3-$50 us bills that I cannot get rid of. Even my bank won't take it. That's what I did but I had a hard time getting that much cash when I came. I think I wanted to bring 6000 with me in cash but only managed to bring about $4,000.
My last month I stayed in Philly and there were no banks there that would let me cash a check or even use much other than the ATM. ATMs doesn't always give new bills. the banks even though it was their own ATM machine in their lobby wouldn't exchange as I wasn't a customer. only Wells Fargo allowed me to take some out. plan ahead.
SIM card if you are not going to be staying long term then you can get one downstairs at the airport. they have kiosks in several levels I think but go to ground floor. you can go to 7-Eleven but I don't recommend that. at the malls usually on the floor just below the top which is the movie theater will be the place to go for anything electronic wise including a new new screen for your phone a case or SIM card. and you'll get a very good price there.
The one I got from the airport was a tourist send but I converted it to a permanent Sim because it was connected to my bank account and immigration. it was difficult to do. that's why I say be careful where you get the SIM card.
If you are in U.S. Get a Schwab or Fidelity Checking account. They reimburse 100% of your ATM fee, and I got better exchange rate from ATM than most vendors I went to.
Stuart Lind ?? Its so easy to exchange on the airport but it depends where on the airport you do it,go -2 and look for the exchange cabins for the rates, they are the same as in the city
For US currency, best bills to carry for convenienceand best exchange rate are $100 bills, unmarked, no tears, excellent condition. Bring one or 2 $20s to exchange at airport (SuperRich basement level offers good rate).
Lonnie Oliver go to super rich or any TT yellow booths to change money often found TT giving better rates . I always go to AIS shop buy Internet plan for period need if need new Sim its only like 50 baht extra . Need passport for sim and changing money or photo copy of it which is after than risking losing passport
If you still have 6k in Baht, don’t listen to the other people, if you stay in BKK Sukhumvit area, go to Stratford Exchange ( on the corner of Soi 15 ) , it’s a small exchange but they always offer the best rate, or look for TT Exchange or Superrich in town
Todd Capron I said I had 6k baht with me I will be carrying enough us currency to not worry about it but doesn’t mean I wanna get taken advantage of when I do the exchange.
Lonnie Oliver down in the basement at SUV airport: superrich (orange). near the gates to the rail link, riht side. at SUV now you get 20 satang less than in the centre, but still more than TT.
If they ask to see your funds 6000k isn't going to cut it. You can show them the equivalent of 20K baht in your country's currency. Flown here 4 times and have never been asked.
go too one of the shopping centers near where you are staying and have a look around at the rates , the airport exchange booths have a lower exchange rate due to rent being paid to be on the airport property.
Super rich at the ground level give good rates but it can be busy. If you don’t have time you can change a smaller amount at the arrival area booths and then change more down town. As you already have 6k Bhat that will be enough to start with. Once your downtown there are exchange places everywhere. Have a look at the rates but sometimes the closest is the most convenient. For SIM cards before I moved here I just got one from the booths in the arrival area. Cost a bit more but much more convenient and data straight away. Never used an eSIM.
You can get an eSIM before hand and activate it asap when you land I would just buy a day one , then go buy one from true if your there for 30 days they have a 30 day unlimited data no calls for 450 + vat so just over 500 baht
Go downstairs to the railway level find Superrich orange kiosk, give them big notes, clean, they will give you back any that are written on or ripped, as for e-sim I used sailly good price and works well, I downloaded it at Heathrow airport, and was good to go in Bangkok, rang the wife from the baggage hall
Super rich at basement level, is usually the best rate. Often slightly higher in the City than at the airport, again super rich have exchanged in city often BST stations.
Going by the rules you are supposed to have 20,000baht equivalent on you. I have never been asked by Immigration to show it, but I always make sure I have it.
Luc De Clerck Typical of trolls like you on this site, nit pickers trying to intimate Einstein, just answer an easy question if your desperate to see your name on here instead of trying to make a fool out of someone and a bigger fool out of yourself.
Lonnie Oliver esim you purchased by the app and activities before you enter Thailand. If you buy an esim unique for Thailand it doesn't work until it connects to thai networks.
Go lower ground level where the walk way to the trains are. There is a super rich down there best rates in Thailand. Sims there are counters for ais true etc as you walk out from baggage claim. You can get cheaper at 7 11 depends how desperate you are for data. Airports bars hotels literally everywhere as WiFi
Yes. The difference on exchange rate was 0.6 baht per dollar. On the $1100 I exchanged, that’s 660 baht. I can pay the ATM fee and still come out over 400 baht up.
Ralph Tyson So talk me through it, you went to super rich exchanged 1100 dollars then went to an atm to check rates and found the atm was over half a baht better.
Ralph Tyson Give over, your telling me you got a better rate at an atm over super rich, with atm charges 250baht on top. Things that never happened for a 1000🤣
Supe Rich 'Orange' only, there and I was there 3wks ago and Every kiosk was giving the Exact Same Rate. I always use Super Rich.. but at the airport I only exchange enough for one day. Then I go to Super Rich 'Green' in the city..( several locations). They have a good rate of exchange.
great tip! I just wanted to give that tip. I always exchange my Euro's at SuperRich. You will find them behind the booth where you buy your train tickets. There are a few exchange booths, but SuperRich tops them all.
Sim cards are available at small stalls even before customs. My phone supports eSim, so I arrange that before I travel. Works as soon as you land.
Robert G Viset Yeh before I moved here, first thing i did was go super rich and if i meet any mates at bkk I always take them there first. Talking of mates, he got an e sim before he landed last time. He couldn't get it to work😆 wasted 20 quid. Had to buy a sim at 7 11
Dan Rogers super rich in the basement of BKK has the best rate, the banks next to it usually match it. Out of BKK the super rich locations rates are usually a worse rate.
Everywhere in Thailand has a better rate than your home country
Fizul Bacchus who's talking about an ATM? We're talking about money exchange booths.
Since you brought up ATMs, if you take out the maximum amount of 30,000 baht then the charge is less than 1%, 250 baht. Are you really that concerned and up in arms about having to pay a fee in a foreign country with a foreign bank card?
As for your exchange rate from your home country do you think that is the best rate? One month ago the exchange rate here in Thailand was hovering around 33.7 baht
Jeff Stein Negative. Do NOT use Any ATM at the airport. Worst rate. In Bangkok ATMs will charge you 240 to 360 BHT all ALL transactions + a foreign transaction fee by your card /bank. This latter fee is omitted if you carry a card that does not charge such fees.
Best rate i got last month was $1 = 32.14 BHT in my home country from my bank. I ordered online and got delivered free to my home. No fees. 😉
Dan Rogers Most expensive, there no cost involved, do you mean they gave the worst rate? I find that hard to believe, i live in Thailand super rich are probably the best out there rate wise even in the airport.
if a tourist, you should have 20k baht (or equivalent) in cash;
exchange at airport is not as good - TT foreign exchange is often better rates or withdraw via atm/wise
e sim you can buy before you leave - online… holafly, and many others - just be aware some esims activate as soon as set up so dont activate until the day you fly
The Official RuleThe amount: 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family (10,000 THB per person for Visa on Arrival).Acceptable currency: Physical Thai Baht or an equivalent major foreign currency like USD, AUD, EUR, or GBP.Discretion: Officers have full legal power to request this, though enforcement is mostly targeted at backpackers, frequent border-crossers, or those with suspicious travel histories
Eddie Keegansno I aint… it is supposed to be instantly accessible to prove to Immigration you have liquid funds - cash (20k baht or equivalent) - and there are no atms/forex before Immigration. People have been refused entry. It is also in Immigration act. They dont enforce it much, buy they can and do. So looks like you are full of shite!
Exchange at a TT exchange in a city like bangkok or super rich exchange for best rates. Keep crisp clean bills and don't exchange at the airport unless it's a small amount.
You can get sim card right in the airport or get eSIM that covers asia online
