Should I pursue a Non-Immigrant O visa in Chiang Mai or apply at the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles later?

Just hit the 30 day mark of my 60 day METV and was curious whether it's better to go for the Non-Immigrant O visa here in Chiang Mai, or start the process when I go to the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles next Spring. Can do another 2 visa runs before METV expires in March. TIA for any comments.
