TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation addresses the age limits for working as a teacher in Thailand and how it affects work visa applications. Responses suggest that while many schools may not hire teachers over 50, some individuals have successfully taught well into their 60s or beyond, depending on qualifications and employer discretion. It is also noted that there may not be a formal age limit for obtaining a work visa, but it often depends on the specific job and the employer's policies.

There's no age limit but schools *usually* will not consider applicants >50. That said, I have met English teachers >60, and in particular an Engl dept mgr who was 70 and also teaching. He was, however "asked" to retire. The ad below has passed but illustrates the issue. Good luck.

It's not 50. I know people who are working in their mid 60s. It depends on who you are working for, your position and qualifications.

So I am too old to teach in the school system but with my masters degree and TEFL could I do it as a private teacher or would the work visa still be limited to 59?
