TLDR : Answer Summary
A Non-O visa becomes active immediately upon issuance by the embassy, valid for use to enter Thailand within 90 days. Upon entry, you will receive a 90-day entry stamp, which should be checked for accuracy.

Once you enter, have your 90 day date already worked out. And check the stamp . They have been known to make mistakes

A non-O visa is active from the moment it is issued by the embassy. It's then valid to use to enter Thailand for 90 days from the day it is issued. The expiration date will be written on the visa.

Once you use the visa to enter Thailand you'll then receive a 90 day entry stamp.

they ask for evidence of flight in to Thailand and out again, but I plan to stay so I wouldn't need flight out,how do you get around that?

I'm gonna go through similar situation soon. My embassy haven't mention the fact that I need to have a ticket once applying for e-visa. I THOUGHT im gonna book the ticket after receiving my visa ๐Ÿค”

Aha, okay. Then I would send the 'coming in' flight and maybe upload a remark sheet for the return flight with 'want year extension' or so. Bit strange for me they ask also a return flight with a non imm. O.

interesting, which embassy is this? Requiring exit tickets for non-O definitely is something new, it has not been required so far.

Now the requirement was already pointless for tourist visas but at least it had a little bit of merit, but requiring it for long stay visas can borders insanity.

But if the embassy requires it, then work around it. I would avoid losing hard worked for money on something so pointless, so I would book the refundable flight and then cancel again.

Also, which embassy is this? Their cost seems a little higher than usual.

interesting Simon it looks like you can get a 180 day multi entry non 0 ?
Brandon ************
@Graeme *****
no. That's not available on the e-visa system. They just haven't updated their website.
Graeme ******
@Brandon ***********
yeah that makes me think the flight requirements are also incorrect
Brandon ************
@Graeme *****
it's possible. Just submit one way ticket and they'll send a request for additional information if they're not happy with it
Graeme ******
@Brandon ***********
yeah I would just pick a flight number on a date within the 90 days and put that on the application but not purchase the flight.
Brandon ************
@Graeme *****
some embassies will accept that or a screenshot of a flight itinerary before you actually got to the point of purchasing it

@Peter ***************
Peter i agree I think the website is incorrect for a non O. Worse case is you upload flight details of a real flight without booking the ticket. The airline should not be interested as it's a long term visa to see any out bound flight
