Hello everyone,

In thai Embassy in the UK clearly states only Muay Thai and Thai cooking courses are accepted for the DTV application.

However, I have communicated with Pro-Language School in Pattaya and they confirmed that one of their course that involves with Cultural and Thai language would be eligible programme to apply for DTV.

*The school states in their website:** this course allows the students to experience the Thai language, Thai traditions, and Thai culture through Thailand’s Soft Power activities, such as cooking Thai food. This well-rounded course integrates Thai language learning with real Thai cultural experiences, helping students communicate naturally while understanding Thai manners, Thai cultural values, and the Thai local lifestyle.*

All the recent information I’ve read has left me unsure about whether to apply for this course because I am usure this course will be eligible to get the 5-year DTV. Has anyone had experience with this specific course or school, and do you know if it qualifies me to apply for the Destination Thailand Visa

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!
Answer summary
The inquiry discusses the eligibility of a cultural and Thai language course at Pro-Language School for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). The Thai Embassy in the UK states that only Muay Thai and Thai cooking courses are accepted, yet the school claims their program includes cultural and language elements that should qualify for the DTV. Community responses suggest that hybrid courses, which combine cultural components with language, may indeed be approved, but caution is advised as eligibility may depend on the specific embassy and the confirmation letter from the school. There is concern over whether the school’s claims are misleading, emphasizing that the final decision lies with the embassy.

I does not matter what the school etc etc says. It is the embassy/consulate that decides what qualifies, I have seen increasing people applying for aDTV and the embassy issuing a METV

I had this same discussion with another soft power agency. Using the phrase 'such as' means it's similar to approved programs but is not itself an approved program.

So they give the appearance that their school is approved but it might not be. It's very sneaky and I got the other agent to admit it can be misleading.

In truth they're alluding to the fact that1 dtv soft power cultural programs in general are authorised ways of getting 5 year visas. If their own school was authorised and accredited they would say that clearly and distinctly.

As another poster said, it's all down to the embassy you apply through, and whether they like the confirmation letter you provide them from the school.

Not guaranteed.

Foreigners and school decide if a DTV is issued

The Ministry of Foreign affairs is downgraded to issue cooking -, Muay Thai or language lessons

The Royal Thai Police Immigration Bureau is downgraded to baggage handlers.

Do not read, trust or follow the rules of the website of the Thai Embassy and for sure do not follow the questions asked on this website

These things are always embassy-dependent. Have you asked the school if they've been approved at the UK Thai Embassy.

Well, you can try with that, and if you get rejected, you try again with Muay Thai .🤷‍♂️ You have nothing to lose, only some cash

There is a similar course like that in Chiang Mai that has worked. It isn’t the language part that they technically accept but because of the cultural component. If it was a language only course, it would be difficult or impossible

Hybrid courses involving a mix of Thai culture cooking and language are DTV approved. A popular one is TSL Chiang Mai. Your course seems very similar so should be ok
