Hi, I'm currently on a tourist visa in Bangkok which expires today (16 April), but according to the notice issued by the immigration office I should be able to get an automatic extension until April 30 right?

...

I have seen few people online who are still claiming that we still need to go to the immigration office to get these extensions, so I'm really confused now

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) is seeking clarification regarding the automatic extension of their tourist visa in Thailand, which is set to expire on April 16. They express confusion about whether they need to visit the immigration office for the extension, as some online sources suggest it is necessary, while others claim the extension is indeed automatic. Commenters generally agree that the extension allows individuals to remain in Thailand without the need to visit immigration, especially during circumstances that promote staying at home.

Since it looks like the OP got his answer, I'll close comments.

This amnesty extension is not to let people stay at home.

This amnesty extension is for people to be legal until the time they go back to their home country, people who are in Thailand for 30 days using a Visa Exempt Entry or a 60 days Tourist Visa did not plan to be long time in Thailand.

This should answer your question about who should go to immigration and who should stay home:

thank you!

The reason these extensions are automatic is so that you don't have to go outside and visit immigration. Stay at home.
