Hello people, would just like some clarity on something: for those on a tourist visa, do they need to ask permission from immigration after July 31st to extend their amnesty to September 26th? Or is their stay in Thailand extended automatically, with no visit to immigration needed? Thanks 👍

TLDR : Answer Summary
Tourists on amnesty do not need to take any action; their stay will automatically extend to September 26th without needing to visit immigration.

On that note I think that
@Alf***
has the answers he needs and we are done.

Good Luck, Sheesh, WAIT FOR THE NEW AMNESTY TO START people :(

IF you're on amnesty NOW, you do nothing and you will automatically go onto the new amnesty that starts the 1st of Aug and runs until the 26th of Sept.

IF you intend to leave the country on or before the 26th of Sept you just leave and you're fine.

They are talking about the fact that when they came into the country on either a 30 day visa exempt entry OR a 60 day tourist visa entry they went right onto amnesty from that entry stamp and did not use their "regular" 30 day extension that you can get for 1900baht at the immigration office off either of those entries. AND they're wondering If they can use them after this new amnesty starts and get it dated from the 27th of Sept.

AND

the answer to that
@Łunaty******
will be WAIT until the new amnesty actually starts (which will be Saturday so wait until Monday) and then GO to your immigration office and ask them if you can get the 30 day regular extension

Is this a final decision without being published on Royal Gazette? Thank you! 🙂

Sorry, I was reading now some 4 days old posts here and you said that until the Immigration office graphic info it is not confirmed by Royal Gazette it is still not official. Is this so? Because, so far, and only about 48 hours left, I could not see this confirmation yet.

ALL the immigration offices have the same graphic on their websites, so we are going with the fact that it IS how it's gonna work.

I am now on amnesty, my extension is automatic - I understand that. I haven't used the 1900 ฿ extension yet, will I be able to do it in September?

I am also thinking about changing to an educational visa. Do I have to do it in August or in September?

You're probably right - so only changing your visa type is an option 🤔
