When the Canadian embassy provided proof of income, Thai immigration would not accept 40K monthly baht transferred into a Thai bank from Canada. Now that the embassy no longer provides this service, is Thai immigration now accepting Thai bank monthly transfers of 40k from Canada overseas as proof of income.

TLDR : Answer Summary
There is uncertainty regarding the acceptance of monthly overseas transfers as proof of income by Thai immigration for visa extensions. Previously, the Canadian embassy provided proof of income which is no longer the case. As of April 2025, Thai immigration appears to be increasingly rejecting international monthly transfers, especially for extensions related to marriage or raising a Thai child. Current trends suggest immigration offices prefer funds to be maintained in a Thai bank account or require proof of employment in Thailand. Regular deposits of 40K baht need to be made into a Thai bank by the applicant themselves for at least 12 months for consideration as proof.
Your profile shows Hua Hin, so they did allow you to use 40K a month international transfers to get your extension?
Mike ******
Yes Hua Hin (Prachubkhirikhan) done same for past 4 years, however the approval comes from Bangkok, as I have to supply all information in duplicate the second copy being sent to Bangkok for first approval
everyone gets their paperwork sent to bangkok, that's why you get a 30 day under consideration stamp. that isn't the reason you can use the 40K baht a month by transfer to get your extensions based on marriage.
Good you can still do it, and as I said dunno why other offices stopped doing it.
This could be because you used this method before they changed their "rules" so you are allowed to continue using the pre-change method sometimes referred to as grandfathering.
there is no official rule change, it's just some offices don't allow it at all ๐ dunno why, nothing in the rules says you can't, ๐

The only reason you would quote the 40K per month as far as proof of funds based on monthly income method would be because you're getting a marriage or raising thai child extension..
Sadly, we are seeing more and more immigration offices refuse to accept monthly income by transfer for those extensions, all they are accepting either 400k bank money method or 40K per month salary based on working in Thailand legally.
Remember the way the proof of funds based on monthly income by international transfer works is: you would need to transfer 40K per month, each month, every month, into a thai bank account in your name only from abroad for the previous 12 months before you apply for your next extension.
You need to check with your immigration office to see if you can use 40K income per month based on international transfer for your extension based on marriage to a thai or raising thai child
i cannot figure out why any office wouldn't accept proof of funds for an extension based on marriage using 40k a month via international transfers. People married to thaiz often work abroad and there's no reason they couldn't use that income to meet the proof of funds.
It is one of those things that have no rhyme or reason that I can work out other than some offices just won't do it.. .Which in and of itself is strange
actually did my 90 day report this morning and once I had received my 2 passports back , asked if there were any changes I should be aware of looking towards my marriage visa extension due Nov 17th. The guy said no just the same as last time but just beware if you bank with BKK BK they have few changes . Told them have have seen a few comments on FB but I go via the NZ EMBASSY , ok then see you any day after Oct 5th. They did actually ask if my wife or me do work either here or abroad, to which.we said no, just live in Thailand.
could it be the wording in the requirements for the marriage extension is different from that for the retirement extension? Both mention income but only the latter mentions that evidence of income in the shape of pensions, dividends, etc can be required.
I do not know why offices are not allowing monthly income method by international transfer for marriage/raising thai child extensions. At first just a couple offices stopped but now it seems to be more and more of them.
