Is LPG fuel easily available in Thailand, and what are the current fuel prices for petrol, diesel, and LPG?

Many thanks for the excellent information and advice. I’m going to switch off comments now before someone suggests that I should buy a Tesla 🤣👍

But if anyone has a rust bucket 4x4 I can dig dirt with, message me please 👍👍

Looking at used cars in Thailand I see that some use LPG as fuel. Is it easily available?

How much is petrol? Diesel? LPG?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster inquired about LPG fuel availability and current prices for petrol, diesel, and LPG in Thailand. Comments indicate that LPG is widely available, especially in Bangkok, where taxis predominantly use it. Prices mentioned include 85 octane fuel at about 23 baht, 91 octane at approximately 30 baht, and LPG at roughly 16 baht per liter. There is debate about the reliability of LPG conversions and the longevity of LPG cars compared to petrol vehicles. Additionally, some users suggest considering hybrid cars for better fuel economy.

Get a hybrid. Don’t get a retrofit LPG, it is likely to be shot. But...nothing beats a diesel reliability and generally fuel economy is higher anyway, despite fuel price.

You jumped neatly from an old LPG rust bucket to a state of the art hybrid. Unfortunately my budget didn’t jump with you 😢👍😊

Yes my wife had a duel fuel car and never had any problems, she found it economical when travelling to work

On my 2nd LPG car keep it checked and serviced never had a single problem and incredibly cheap to run 🤓

I could be wrong but it’s my understanding that the taxis in Bangkok run on natural gas, not LPG. I don’t know how the systems differ though.

Newer cars are fuel efficient. Just for reference... Recently went on a 2300km roadtrip and spent around 3000 baht. This is on 95 fuel and mix of highway, city, town and mountain roads from BKK->Petchabun->ChiangMai->Doi Suthep->MaeSot->Sukhothai->BKK.

near impossible to resell

.. Most of lpg car owner who want to sell take off lpg installation.

But the dammage on engine still there.🤪

It's true that not all LPG systems are the same quality, and it's also true that not all are properly (i.e. professionally) installed and/or maintained. I went for the best quality brand, had it installed by a specialised garage, and have had it regularly serviced. The point was about people making generalised comments rubbishing LPG as if it was universally problematic, or dangerous. Every taxi in BKK now has or seems to have LPG and how often do you read about them blowing up? It's also worth noting that the government now require an annual inspection, which is a change from the previous system which required only 5 yearly inspections.

usually one’s experience are the facts. My ex had a car with an LPG system installed. Caused all kinds of problems. They lower the resale value as well.

better for the environment as well and I agree too many uneducated opinions 😉 the gas system is checked every year before the vehicle test 🤓

7 years now with LPG conversion from Energy Reform, regularly serviced, and no problems. Some people just spout garbage without having a clue about the facts

I’m coming to Thailand. Seems like more fun 🤩

strange LPG car engines last lots longer that petrol, they run cleaner due to no carbon deposits, oil lasts much longer, no pre ignition or detonation, if your theory is correct why do Bangkok taxi use it and on
