TLDR : Answer Summary
When you extend a retirement visa in Thailand using the 800,000 baht method, it is necessary to report and show that you have maintained this amount in your bank account for three months following the extension. Immigration offices vary in their enforcement of this rule, but if you were given a specific paper requesting this documentation, it indicates that it is indeed required at your immigration office.

Totally necessary. You used the 800K baht banked money method to get your yearly extension and the new requirements are that you kept the 800K baht in your account for 3 months after you got the extension.

They gave you a paper that tells you the date you show back up with your updated bank book and a copy of it to show them you followed the rules.

Not every immigration office does it BUT if they gave you the paper, they are one of the offices that DO require it :/
