Takes longer to get the interview because BOTH Vientiane and Savannakhet have mandatory in person interviews at the consulates before they approve the visa

Some people reported a week wait (or more) for the interview after they submitted the application and then went in person to pay for the visa (which is another thing you have to do at those consulates)

I'd say plan on a 2 week stay and you should be okay
