How does the Thai Embassy handle tax returns for recent self-employed applicants?

Hi everyone,

my girlfriend plans to apply for the Thailand DTV Workcation Visa at the Thai Embassy in Frankfurt at the end of December and we have a quick question.

* She is self-employed since May this year

* €2,000–2,500 average monthly income since May

* 500,000 THB in savings for over 3 months

* Tax returns for 2023 & 2024, but from working-student employment (self-employment started only in May)

We’ve heard that the Frankfurt embassy often asks for tax returns from previous years.

👉 How does the embassy usually handle cases where the applicant has only recently become self-employed?

👉 Is it a problem if older tax returns are not from self-employment?

Thanks a lot for any recent experiences! 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses a situation where the user's girlfriend is applying for a Thailand DTV Workcation Visa. They question how the Thai Embassy in Frankfurt views tax returns for an applicant who recently became self-employed and lacks prior self-employment tax returns. Responses from the community suggest that recent experiences with similar cases have not posed issues, and there may be alternatives like providing business registration and Tax ID.

Sound like somebody is going to jail from tax evasion.

I had kinda the same situation last year, when I applied in Berlin and it was no issue at all.

Do you think that maybe the Thai Embassy staff recognize the starting date of her being self employed and understand that there is no tax record of recent years?

She mentions she just started and she does not have a tax return relating to her current business. She can provide her business registration, Tax ID.
