How do medical extensions impact the validity of a METV in Thailand?

Hey gang, I have a question about how medical extensions affect metv's.

Last time I had surgery I was able to get a 2 month extension on my tourist visa. This time around, I'm considering getting a metv at the end of February, landing into the kingdom at the end of May, and having surgery in the middle of June.

I know if I land at the end of May I would need to leave at the end of July (60 days) and that the metv technically goes until the end of Sept (6 months), but if I get a medical extension would that add an additional 2 months to the total 6 months? Or would the 6 months still be the duration that the metv is valid regardless of a medical extension that happens within that window.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The duration of a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) remains fixed at six months from the date of issuance, irrespective of any extensions granted. A medical extension allows for additional stay time, but does not extend the original visa's expiration date.

IF you get a 6 month METV at the end of Feb, BUT you don't show up until May you just burned HALF of the 6 months that visa is valid for by not being here.

The visa is valid for 6 months from the date it's ISSUED. NOT from when you come into the country.

Also ANY extension of stay you get on it while here does NOT add a single day to the expiration date of the visa. It still expires 6 months from the date it was issued.

I’m well aware, thank you. I’ll be on the islands for a couple months beginning in March but didn’t think that would be relevant to my question.

You get an Extension of Stay on your Admitted to Stay period. The visa stays the same visa and the dates on the visa can not be changed.

The enter before date on the visa stays the same. You get 60 days of stay when you enter before this enter before date and if you get medical extension, normally 90 days you stay will be added with another 90 days. The visa becomes invalid on the enter before date, your permission of stay has no influence on this.

Meaning that the Admitted to Stay period in question would be the 60 days upon my arrival in May, and that that doesn't affect the date of expiration of the metv in Sept regardless how long of a medical extension I got (assuming it isn't going past the sept date). Correct?
