Transfer from Non Imm B Visa (with WP) to Retirement Visa O in Bangkok.

Was just quoted (by an agent) a fee of 35,000 THB + 4,000 THB for Multi entry to make the switch. It was stated my bank book would not require the 800K THB. TBH, I didnt know such a service existed.

Does anyone have 1st hand experience of doing this visa conversation themselves in Bangkok that would be kind enough to share their experience?

I've seen people before say that it's difficult / impossible to switch from one Non-Immigrant type visa to another inside the country.

I don't know your nationality, but you may qualify for visa exempt. If so, you could do something like this.

(This is assuming you are on a Non-B extension and not a Non-B visa)

Get documentation from your job saying when you will stop working.

Cancel your work permit ahead maybe 1 week ahead of time. They will date the cancellation to match the letter you have from your company.

Take the cancelled work permit and documentation and cancel your Non-B extension.

Leave and re-enter Thailand entering on a visa exempt.

Start the process to apply for your own Non-O based on retirement, which will require you to show proof that you have 800,000 in a Thai bank account in your name only, and proof that it was transferred into Thailand from overseas.

You can convert to almost anything within Thailand with an agent. That's the whole point, everyone takes a cut of the bribe. You pay a premium price for such conversion and the absence of proof of fund as the agent provides the $ to you by putting the $ in your account for 24h or wtv.

thanks. Iโ€™m UK so basically after canceling the work permit I can re-enter for 45 days. So it is possible to convert a tourist visa to a retirement visa in Bangkok as long as a have the insurance and bank deposit covered ?

there's no insurance required. And 45 days is not a tourist visa, it's visa exempt.
