TLDR : Answer Summary
Expats in Thailand can receive mail by having it sent to their local address, using courier services, or utilizing mail scanning and forwarding services like TravelingMailbox or Anytime Mailbox. While the Thai postal system works for many, some users report issues with lost mail and delays. It's advised to keep important documents paperless or forwarded digitally to avoid complications.

Thai postal service is good, but with electronic, why ? Snail mail from EU or US can take a month or more

I use Anytime Mailbox. They scan mail, shred, and can forward via USPS or UPS. Use the forward for important items. Good luck.

Try DHL

If you are from the north pole you can get one of Santa's helpers to deliver it. If you live on the moon you can get the Indians to bring it back for you when they go to visit.

I guess it matters where you live.

I am from the US and I use a service US Global Mail. Because I am from the US I can do that and I don't have to rely on Santa's helpers.

Just a note of caution. I have the Thai wife, I am US citizen. We stopped sending mail to my wife’s village in Thailand because none of the first 20 letters we sent to the family in Thailand were received by our family members. Zero.

The Thailand Postal Service is notorious for disposing of mail they deem not important to deliver. There is a postal worker near our village with hundreds of our family photos on the postal worker’s living room walls. Currently, we live in wife’s village for the US winter and we have received 1 piece of mail in the 5 years we have had our house.

The Thailand Postal Service follows no rules. Each fiefdom does it’s own thing. I hope your results are better than mine.

That's very difficult in Thailand. Here most people sit on palm trees or riding water buffalos. Some are eating insects even. Don't come. It's dangerous and disgusting. They don't even speak English but something they call Thai. πŸ˜³πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ˜±

Put anything important on email and paperless that's what I did now I get half of the crap mail I used to get plus no more stamps

I have my mail sent to a friends address and he scans the letters and then sends the letter as a PDF file by email to me

Hi Larry, you did not mention which country you come from. So that could have different replies to your question. In Sourh Africa our national postal system does not exist , so using a courier is best.

Whilst in Thailand we have had absolutely no problems receiving and sending mail and parcels with their postal system. Works like a charm.

Normal mail service delivery. Unless you are receiving something that the mail sorter wants in which care you'll never see it again. πŸ˜‚ Beware when sending parcels or receiving parcels through the mail you might get slugged with tax. In some cases the tax exceeds the value of the goods.

@Deanna ******
hi.. have you ever had mail forwarded to Thailand?
Deanna *******
@Robert *******
We never had to forward mail from TMB to Thailand because we could always just download the PDF and print out the mail contents.

I do know that you CAN have it forwarded if you like.

However, some institutions, like our US bank will send mail to Thailand, like a new debit card.

The issue with Thailand is getting the postal service to figure out where your house address is in Thailand, so we try to avoid that.

Also, regular post from the US to Thailand and vice versa takes about 4 weeks.

Our paid pension company will not send checks here. Has to be to US address only.

Yes I understand these complications... Every now and then I do need some things mailed. I understand about the credit cards but sometimes I need something different. The cost will probably be exorbitant. They say it's competitive but I know what the UPS costs are. I was just curious if you would actually done it. Thank you for your kind courteous prompt response
