Would like to know how i can get my thai drivers licence car and motorcycle. And yellow and pink card.
Answer summary
To obtain a Thai driver's license for both car and motorcycle, you must go to a Thai DLT (Department of Land Transport) office. Requirements typically include presenting a visa, a doctor's certificate, and a certificate of residence from Immigration. If you're a foreigner without a prior license, you may need to complete both a written and a driving test. The yellow book (house registration) and pink card (ID for foreigners) can be acquired from your local amphur office. For the yellow book, you need a Thai property owner to allow you to use their address, and requirements may vary by amphur.

Drivers licence you will need a copy of your visa, certificate of residence from Immigration and a doctor's certificate.

In Pattaya you also need to watch a video and answer questions correctly.

Then you do the colour and response tests

Alan Freeman That's only if he already has a licence in his own country and current IDP, otherwise he has to do written and driving test on top of what you have already mentioned. When I applied for mine at Khon Kaen DLT, for some reason I skipped the Reaction and proximity tests, only had to do the Color vision test.

If he is applying for both car and Motorcycle licences, he has to submit 2 lots of paperwork for each licence as the 2 licences are separate ones, also get there when they first open, I was in and out in less than 45 minutes.

In an era when people are turning their backs on unnecessary digital ID and details on government databases, I'm surprised why people are so desperate at times to get all these multi-coloured documents from the Thai government. People I know who have them tell me they're next to useless. What's the attraction?

OP
Having the idea of riding around Thailand it is a good idea to have your D/l and yellow and pink card as it gives you discounts when going place and it's a good identification to have.

Michael Batmn Yellow Book and Pink ID give no discounts on anything. Passport is ideal identification. If you're happy with your details being on multiple government databases it's good. I'm no conspiracy theorist but I value privacy

Drivers license is actually law to have them.

The international one is only for 3 months.

Christer Bau A must have, the last few years in coming to Thailand, when I've been pulled over, I've been also asked for the IDP. Now I live here I drive on Thai DL.

You get a drivers license through a Thai DLT office.

Yellow book and pink ID card are applied for through your amphur office. You need a property owner willing to let you be added to their address and then go to the amphur office that serves that address to ask what the requirements are. Each amphur sets their own requirements, with some being very easy, and some not even accepting applications from foreigners.

I am the property owner. As a non-Thai national, I can only have the Yellow Book.

I have the Yellow Book now and Thai Pink ID for foreigners (Bangkok, Samut Prakan). Took a month and an attorney (15,400 THB) to get it.

Even more, a certification of my Australian passport, Aus Embassy. Some more things, like our Thai (original marriage certification), maybe some more, I do not know.

DL took about 15 minutes with Passport, (IDP) International Driving Permit and other two documents (Yellow Book, Pink ID). No need to translate my Japanese DL. No need for TM30, Certificate of Residence.

With an agency, 5,400 THB. Took 15 minutes, at the time I told them I can come, no appointments (some reports here say 2-3-4 weeks, even months).

My Thai DL has no my passport number, has my Thai Pink ID instead. That document is forever when you are over 60yrs old. Change of passport - no effect.

You are simply color blind?

There is no "Pink Book". For property ownership and residence, There are Blue Book (for Thai nationals) while foreigners can only have Yellow Book. I am the owner but not a Thai national. That is how my Thai wife and our daughter are in the Blue Book, the most I could get is Yellow Book.

The attorney had to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to certify our marriage certificate, my condo purchase contract, my Japanese ID card, my Thai wife Japanese and Thai ID card, I do not remember what else, some other things too. I could have done it myself but appointment time varies from 1 week to 1 month.

At the City Council, there was about 10cm thick folder of documents to sign, including my thumb and index finger fingerprints, both hands.

Even my declaration of how many visa extensions I had had (zero over 25 years).

The city council contacted Australian Embassy in Bangkok to check if there were any claims against me. It takes 30 days to respond.

Then, my application had to go and be signed by 3 more City Council managers above the staff we were talking to.

Pink Card (Thai ID for foreigners) is based on the Yellow Book. With the Yellow Book in hand, it takes minutes (and 100 THB) to get it on the spot.
