TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is seeking guidance on how to obtain a retirement visa in Thailand, specifically inquiring about the application process in Bangkok, the necessity of hiring a Thai lawyer, and ways to ensure a stress-free experience. Is a retirement visa multiple entry?

@James **********
No if you’re applying in country. It has no entry value as you’re already in the country. If applying to an overseas consulate the Non O is single entry, the Non OA is multiple entry, but more conditions attached to that and you can only get in your home country or country of permanent residency.

To keep the non O date alive or turn it in to multiple entry you’d need a re-entry permit. Single 1,000 baht, multiple 3,800 baht.

The hardest part will be getting your Thai bank account to transfer the bt800,000 into from an overseas source.

from your bank in your home country transfer at least bt800,000 into your Thai bank account. As soon as it is in your account you can apply for your retirement visa extension, and get a 90 day stamp. At the end of this, less than 45 days left and when your money has been in your Thai account for at least two months, then you apply for your one year extension. Check with immigration directly as to what else they want, as each office can have different documents they want. The financial requirement is the most important.

as soon as your money has been in your account for over two months, and I hope it came into your account from overseas as they check closely, go to your bank, and get two letters from them. One being a combined deposit statement covering the last three months, or back to when the money was deposited into your account (they require two months, but it's good to have an extra then there is no confusion). The other letter from them basically states that it is your account, in your name only. Both have to be on bank letterhead. Within seven days after you get these, make a copy of your bankbook, every page, and on the day you go to immigration update your bankbook, and make a copy of the last page, and your data page. You can update it by making a transaction, withdraw/deposit a few baht, then update the book. Make a copy of your passport data page, entry stamp page, and visa stamp, and date page. Take all this to immigration and apply for your type O retirement visa extension. There might be something else certain offices want, but this should get an extension stamp in your passport.
