Visa extension query - I intend to go to immigration at korat this comeing Thursday to extend my 30 day visa (the visa exempt 30 day stamp given on arrival). I've not done an in country visa extension for over 20 years so just want to check up how it works.

Has anyone done this recently? Is it fairly straightforward? Any other tips/info regarding required documents, best arrival time, parking etc to make the whole thing as pain free as possible?

TIA for any assistance/advice :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on extending their 30-day visa exempt stamp at the immigration office in Korat. They haven't done an in-country extension for over 20 years and are looking for information on the process, required documents, and tips for a smooth experience. Commenters provided a list of required documents, including a passport copy, admission stamp, departure card, a passport photo, and the TM7 form. They also advised the best times to visit the office and emphasized avoiding lunchtime.

Just posted this review on the google maps thing for Immigration at Korat :

“First class service - courteous, helpful, accommodating and friendly. Cannot fault the staff at Korat Immigration office.”

The whole process was painless and even pleasant! Took copies of wife’s ID, housebook, marriage certs, her change of name cert & birth certs of the kids. Had all originals also.

Got 60 days extension without any trouble.

Thanks again to all who offered advice😀

@Robert ******
so extra copies of all the various documents are required for the 60 day extension, right?

is correct, you can apply for the 60 day Extension of Stay based on visiting your family. a Few more copies but you get 30 days extra for the same price.

Tod/Robert can confirm but there’s a 60 day ‘visit family’ option. If it can be done from a visa exempt then it’s the same form, the same cost from the same place?

I’m afraid this goes way beyond my level of expertise which is purely focused on tourist visas.

if you are married to a Thai national/have a Thai family, can’t you do a 60 day extension based on visiting your Thai wife or child?

Copy of ID page passport, Copy of Admitted to Stay stamp page, Copy of Departure Card, 1 passport picture, TM7 Application form (you get at Immigration Office, the fee of 1.900 Thb. For parking assistance and how to get to the office we can not help you. The best time is between 08:30 in the morning till 16:00 in the afternoon as their opening times but not between 12:00 and 13:00 as it is their lunchtime.

Aha - I actually live here.... just came back after a spell in the UK and haven't got my marriage visa sorted out yet (and that'll be a load of questions for another day and another thread!).

Robert i see your surprise at my idea to complete the TM7 in advance - does this have to be completed in the presence of the immigration official, or perhaps by the official, or can it be completed in advance by myself?
