TLDR : Answer Summary
The rules regarding land border crossings into Thailand have indeed changed in recent years. Previously, there was a restriction allowing only two land border crossings per calendar year, which was abolished in 2024. However, enforcement has tightened recently, and while immigration officers largely decide on entry permissions, there may be a 14-day visa on arrival applicable after the second crossing. This applies at their discretion, meaning some travelers may be questioned, especially those crossing frequently.
Thanks John, There were specific rule relation to only 2 land crossing per calendar year, which were abolished in 2024. Seem they have tightened again, after 2 there appears to be a 14 day visa on arrival. Of course at their discretion.
Nope. Not anything announced. They are being stricter on number of Visa Exempt entries back to back but that includes airports too. A few guys who do the month on month off work in Middle East and elsewhere been pulled recently and told to get visas
Ashley Toner It seems to be luck of the draw. I know about guy who has done 3 vida exempt by land plus 3 extensions in a row. He does pay for the privilege. At least he did as it was Cambodian border and they charged 3500 for same day in and out. Border closed now. From the reports they are checking people are genuine tourists. The offshore workers I know questioned were let in bit told to get a tourist or other visa next time.
I mean they changed it to allow more than 2, but seems they may have changed it back ? going in 3 days I'm just did a quick check regarding the digital Arrival thing
