TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on whether the Chong Chom border has started enforcing a requirement for travelers to show proof of 20,000 THB during border runs. Participants note that any entry point in Thailand may request proof of funds, onward travel, and accommodation if they choose. The Chong Chom border is located in Surin Province.

okay, thanx one and all (y) let this be a reminder that ANY entry point to thailand can in theory ask you for proof of funds, proof of onward travel and proof of a hotel booking IF they want to..

Thanx again

For people who don't know the Chong Chom / O'Smach border is in Surin Province..

Thanx for the update. What type of entry were you making? Visa exempt, tourist visa, multi-entry Non-Immgrant?

thanx :)

I had read that border was hit or miss before as far as asking for the 20K baht in cash,

BUT

at least they didn't make you stay in Cambodia for 24 hours before letting you stamp back in to thailand like they do at Aranyaprathet - Poi Pet. ;)

Good to know..
