TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Non-O 90-day visa while living in Thailand, you generally need to leave the country to submit your application at a Thai embassy, and remain outside until processing is complete. Proof of your current location can be shown through entry stamps in your passport or receipts from accommodations. While some may convert visa types within Thailand under certain circumstances (like holding a Thai bank account), it's advisable to confirm specific requirements with local immigration offices.

Proof of current location can be a receipt from your hotel/Airbnb outside of Thailand. In our case last year they asked for 'Additional proof' if current location - they requested our passport stamp for Vietnam and a copy of our boarding pass (which thankfully we kept)

Then you enter your permanent address (presuming you aren't in your home country)

Audun Sove Lorentzen in that case you will have to leave Thailand and enter on visa exempt. If you have an O-A you have to have insurance and you can't convert from an O-A to an O inside Thailand.

Audun Sove Lorentzen I'm pretty sure you have to leave Thailand. I don't think you can switch from Non-OA to Non-O while still in the country. A lot of people suggest Laos. We did ours in Vietnam.

If you want to apply for the visa through a Thai embassy, then yes, you must leave Thailand and enter the jurisdiction of that embassy. You must also remain there until the application is processed.

If you travel to a nearby country, then you would use the entry stamp in your passport as proof of location.

If you already have a Thai bank account, your immigration office may allows conversions to non-O visa in country, but you would need to check with them on both if they allow it, and what their requirements are.

Talk to immigration office if you have already a bank account and the deposit or confirmation of retirement income.

They might help you in transformation to extension of stay (1 year)

Good luck πŸ€πŸ‘

you cannot use monthly transfers for the initial non-O visa if trying to get it inside of Thailand, and cannot use monthly transfers for the first 1-year extension.

The only option for those is an embassy verified income, or proof of 800k in your Thai bank account.
