Hello, I have been in Thailand with my Muay Thai DTV for 6 months, and now I am going to visit my family in Europe. When I enter Thailand again in a month or so, do I need to book a new Muay Thai course? The DTV is valid for 5 years, but the course was only for 6 months.

Is it more difficult to arrive in BKK or DMK and go through immigration there, or would you recommend going through immigration at CNX, where I live and rent a condo?
Answer summary
A user with a DTV visa for Muay Thai seeks advice about re-entering Thailand after a break. The discussions suggest that while the DTV visa is valid for 5 years, re-entering without being enrolled in another course might raise questions at immigration. Some participants recommend booking a new course before re-entering and having proof ready. Opinions vary regarding the immigration process at different airports, with CNX seen as potentially less stressful than BKK or DMK.

Using cnx airport is easier than bkk airports. Why would you ever thi K of using bkk when you live in cnx?

This has been discussed several times and people might sound very convinced on their interpretation and what they believe is logical. But the truth is there’s no official position or statement about this. So, the only thing we know is that there are no specified conditions to maintain the visa, but it will ultimately be up to the Officer’s discretion.

While it might be true that if you never book another Muay Thai course within your 5 year visa period, you might be questioned more rigorously, there is most definitely no rule that you have to be continuously enrolled for a course throughout that 5 year period, and cannot take, for example, a 1-2 month break. Do not pay too much attention to the resident IO wannabes in this group, who insist that you must always carry your pack of visa application documents with you

We have reports about both. Some never got asked, some others had to show *all the papers and funds* again. Some people had even to show a return flight, or actually book one before they were allowed to enter.

Problematic seems to be Phuket.

they show them without being asked they are just paranoid. I never carry any paperwork and have never been asked
Mina *****
Mina *****
Anonymous participant 532 That sounds more likely. If it was really the fact that it can and will be asked, it would be clearly written in official websites/documentation that you must always carry documents a, b and c with you... It is not written, therefore the requirement does not exist. And on anyone claiming that they know someone, who knows someone who got rejected entry for not providing documents, I call BS, until there is no proof that this actually happened. And again, I do not consider an anonymous post or a 3rd hand rumor to be proof

would you recommend CNX (where I live) or BKK or DMK.

My first entry in april was in cnx.

who is "we"? this group and its anonymous members? The return flight is the most ridiculous claim. It is not based on anything. Nothing prohibits anyone from taking a car, train or a bus to a border and just walking across
Mina *****
Mina *****
Lol, what a piece of work you are. There is no way any IO can demand a return flight ticket from a person and refuse their entry because the person does not have one. Simply because there is and never will be a requirement that people must always leave the country by airplane. If you want to claim otherwise, show the proof. Anonymous post or a rumor that someone told you, is NOT a proof

Previous/old entries in this group suggest that you wouldnt have a problem however more recently there have been more posts about people being denied entry for not being enrolled in a course at the time of entering and being able to prove it. At the moment it seems it really does depend which IO you get on the day there is no consistency in what they deem acceptable or not. The best thing to do is be prepared for them to ask...in that case that means booking a new course BEFORE you enyer thailand, have the reciept, booking confirmation, proof of funds for your stay and proof of a return/exit flight.

You are not asked for your passport it is a requirement if you want to leave or enter any country including your own. You passport opens up you file in immagration system. They see you have a DTV and stamp you for 6 months as long as your arrival card is in the system.Thats it no need for any conversation. I have crossed many times land and air. Never been asked anything.its usually people who were doing on arrival and were scamming the system now they are super paranoid so they think having some form of conversation with the imo will distract them. Nonsense really. But good luck to you hope it keeps going well.

@Chantelle *****
First of all, there is no requirement to be continuously enrolled for the course within the 5 year period without a single week or a month break. 2nd of all, there is no requirement to arrive or leave the country by an airplane. Third of all there is no requirement to carry a pack of documents with you when entering the country... Fourth of all, 99.99% of the previous entries in this group that suggest otherwise are either anonymous or just a report of what someone told someone else... I could go on...

Re-read my reply...at no point did I say what you are implying. I specifically said there have been posts on here that suggest it so better to be safe. For the record I have been in and out on workation and my boyfriend on soft power 4 times in the last year with no problems whatsoever, we have also made sure that if we are questioned we have everything we need, thats just common sense when you are using your visa genuinely! 👍😊

Or you look better, smell better, or your dressing is more tidy - or what ever.

Again: all the stuff
@Chantelle *****
prepared for: are reportedly asked for.

Again: this group and other DTV visa groups a re FULL with people who got asked if they are still/again on softpower. It happened that the gym got called.

And again: 500k THB on a bank ARE A REQUIREMENT, and 20k THB in cash are A REQUIREMENT.

People got forced to buy an exit ticket, had to buy and pay it in front of the eyes of the IO. THIS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT, but the IO FORCED the person in question to do it.

I seriously do not get what you want to argue about.

"Never happened to me" is a pretty stupid standpoint.

I never drowned. Ooops. Hundreds of people drown every year.

Perhaps you are in the wrong profession? Otherwise you might have heard about "Murphy's Law" - everything that can go wrong, sooner or later will go wrong.

And your "could be asked" is based on what exactly? The anonymous posts in this group? I have done 9-10 border crossings since getting the DTV. Have had a couple of friendly chats with who I supposed were CIOs but I have not been asked to produce a single document other than my passport and printed visa. Perhaps I am just luckier than the numerous anonymous scaremongers.... who knows

Nope not kind of saying anything, actually saying be prepared that it could be asked of you. Just read it factually instead of trying to interpretate anything. Nowhere am I saying is it a requirement but yes certainly could be asked for.

The best thing to do is be prepared for them to ask...in that case that means booking a new course BEFORE you enyer thailand, have the reciept, booking confirmation, proof of funds for your stay and proof of a return/exit flight." None of the things that you list are a requirement

dont add comments that arent factual. DTV is a 5 year visa. There is no evidence or rules that say you must do anything for sort power other than when you apply. So if you have been granted the visa that's it. The same as traveling around thailand you can go where you want.most people here who comment like this are agents or don't have s clue. Just scaremongering with nothing else to do

"Full with posts"? If it is so full, please link 2 or 3 non-anonymous posts about people having been denied entry. Noone should care about anonymous posts, because you never know, if they are genuine travellers, visa agents hoping to create market for their services or some other people with shady motives. And please do not link posts where people talk about "knowing about someone else" who got denied entry...

This is laughable from another anonymous poster implyimg that people are on here with nothing better to do 🤣you can also check my previous posts and comments. I'm consistently promoting/helping people to do their application without an agent and that its actually a very simple process and not bad. Your DTV is based on Muay Thai, once your course is over there is no reason for you to enter Thailand under the DTV visa unless you book another course. If you are unlucky you might get pulled out for questioning and if turns out that you are not fulfilling the purpose of your visa anymore l, you can get denied entry. The chances to get questioned are small but can happen any time with anyone
Za *******
Za *******
No one said you need to book a new course right after the original course ended, just have it booked when you enter the country, in case you are unlucky enough to get questioned

"there is no reason for you to enter Thailand under the DTV visa unless you book another course". THat might be true. But there is nothing saying that you must book a new course immediately after the first one ends. Also, unless and until there is a first hand non-anonymous info about someone being denied entry for not renewing their course, it is all just a speculation by a couple of IO wannabes in this group

like any other visa, the DTV has it’s purpose. Once the purpose of any visa it’s not fulfilled anymore, you can be denied entry. And let’s not forget that almost all the rules in Thailand can be interpreted and their interpretation will never be favorable for us.

I already explained you, Your DTV is based on Muay Thai, once your course is over there is no reason for you to enter Thailand under the DTV visa unless you book another course. If you are unlucky you might get pulled out for questioning and if turns out that you are not fulfilling the purpose of your visa anymore l, you can get denied entry. There were even cases where the IO called the school to ask if a DTV holder was indeed attending to the course. The call was also confirmed by the gym here in the group. And like I said, the chances to get questioned are small but can happen any time with anyone. You can risk it once, twice, it depends how lucky you are

it is valid for 5 years so you can have plenty of time to train Muay Thai or whatever activity you are applying for. Each visa has its purpose, once the purpose of the visa it’s not fulfilled, there is no reason to enter the country and you should get a visa which fulfills the purpose of your entry. The IO can deny you entry for any reason actually🤷‍♂️. The chances to get questioned are low but you never know and before it happens and then asking yourself the question “Why me?”, just use your common sense.😉
