I applied for a six-month multiple-entry tourist visa.
However, I made a mistake with the passport number; do I absolutely have to start the application over? Or not?

Yeh I did it once put wrong date had to redo the whole thing. Lesson learned i don't drink while doing visa 😁

If you still want the visa, then you'll need to submit a new application. The basic biographical information cannot be modified or corrected once the application is submitted. So you always need to double and triple check your name, date of birth, passport number, and other primary information.
