TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are flying to Samui via Bangkok, where you clear immigration depends on your ticket situation. If you have a single ticket booked through, you typically complete immigration in Bangkok. However, if you have separate tickets, you need to clear immigration in Bangkok and collect your bags before rechecking them. Checking with the airline for specific policies is also advisable.
Okay, I just hear you where only 6 months in Thailand during 2019, that you are now 5 months away from Thailand.
Get a letter from the company that they are going to hire you, but they need some more copies bla bla bla and that is why you now come in using the Tourist Visa and will go for an Non Immigrant B visa and work permit. Do not worry to much.
yea I purposely have tried not to take the biscuit with my time there last year and I have been away 4 months. I will get a letter and just hope for the best. Thank you so much for all your info.
I can not tell what the Immigration officer decide, my advice, get the documents, apply for the Non Immigrant B visa and then make your way to Thailand.
I'm assuming that things are the same as the last time I through checked (5 years ago).
If it's one ticket booked through, then the bags will also be checked through and you should clear at Samui.
If they're separate tickets, or the onward airline doesn't have an interline agreement, then you'll pick up your bags and do immigration in Bkk- then recheck your bags.
