Hi everyone, I'm Dita from Indonesia. I currently hold a diploma and am planning to apply for jobs in Thailand. Do companies in Thailand generally accept diplomas, or is it true that work permits in Thailand require only a Bachelor's degree?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Dita, an Indonesian expat, inquired about the acceptance of diplomas for job applications in Thailand and whether work permits necessitate a Bachelor's degree. The responses indicate that while teaching English typically requires a Bachelor's degree, other industries may not have this restriction. However, job opportunities for diploma holders may be limited due to competition from Thai nationals, particularly in protected occupations. Suggestions were made to focus on hospitality jobs which could be more accessible.

A diploma ? BA, MS?

In Thailand concentrate on looking for hospitality jobs. Jobs aren't reserved for Thais only. In fact in tourism in general the controls are only over guides. You seem personable and with good English and that may be a cue to jobs in, say, hotel reception so long as you focus on hotels that aren't highly focused on Thai customers. Large hotels, though, often have balance across the staff group, some speaking Thai and some not.

Semoga sukses. I think Malaysia would offer better salary and language issues would be less.

Hi dita as mentioned it’s teaching that requires the degree however there are also multiple occupations that are protected for Thai nationals only so it really does depend on what your experience is in order to have a chance of getting a job here over a Thai national

It's teaching English that requires a bachelor's degree. Other jobs do not require it to get a work permit, but there's not really many jobs that you can get without one. Anything you can do, a Thai can and will do cheaper than you will accept.
