TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around whether one can enter Thailand via the Aranyaphrathet/Sakaeo checkpoint with a visa on arrival. Comments clarify that the visa on arrival is applicable only to certain nationalities for a fee and limited duration. It seems there is confusion between visa on arrival and visa exemption, which allows some countries a free 30-day entry without a prior visa. Users discuss the specifics of entry points, visa categories, and regulations regarding extensions.

On this opportunity, here are a few word-definitions that are used in this group, including visa-exempt, visa-waiver, and visa on arrival (those are different)

I know it probably sounds like a moan but the misconceptions between visa on arrival and visa exemption are raised on a daily basis but people still call visa exemption VOA thanks to Ellie and Tod for repeatedly having to educate people lol

, if you enter on visa-exempt for 30 days, NOT Visa on arrival, you can not apply for "extension" Non-O retirement. But you CAN apply for a new in-country Non-O retirement visa for 90 days, then can apply for the following 1-year extension at the end of your 90 days.

I think you're not talking about a visa on arrival at all ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

A visa on arrival is SOLD to people from 17 countries for 2000baht when they enter thailand and they get stamped in for 15 days

I think you're really talking about a FREE 30 day visa exempt entry <- which people from 52 countries get when they show up here without having bought a visa from a thai consulate beforehand.

The Aranyaprathet/Poi Pet border would not be my first choice as a place to enter but all the cambodian borders are open for entry to thailand.

By land you can enter thailand TWO times in a calendar year on a free 30 day visa exempt entry.

ok, one last time it's NOT a visa on arrival ๐Ÿ˜• There is no such thing as a 30 day visa on arrival.

You are talking about a 30 day VISA EXEMPT ENTRY.

You can't extend it for 90 days but what you're wanting to do is actually APPLY for a 90 day Non-O visa for 2000baht at your immigration office (by meeting the requirements) wait the under review period (between 14 and 20 days depending on the office you use) then go back and get a new 90 day stamp AND a Non-O visa inked in

After you run that down to 30 days or less then you'd apply for a year extension for 1900baht

The whole process can be done from a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp that you get comin' in by land (y)

Sorry yes Visa exempt for 30 days then apply 90 days Non Immigrant.

Just happy to know it can be done ๐Ÿ˜

One last question is it the same if I fly to Phnom Penh and back to Bkk... visa exempt for 30 days on arrival ?
