TLDR : Answer Summary
This discussion is about the challenges of applying for a DTV visa while still holding a Non-Ed visa. Community members emphasize the importance of properly canceling any current visas before applying for the DTV. They share experiences indicating that approvals are often contingent on compliance with cancellation procedures, particularly at different Thai Embassy locations. Some users warn against the risks of not following proper protocols, as rejections and fines may occur.
Yes, we have successfully handled 4 cases. However, this was mainly due to the specific location of the Thai Embassy and a degree of luck. Under the same conditions, applications submitted to more popular Thai Embassies are often rejected.
Approvals typically occur only when embassy staff do not thoroughly review the application or do not request a passport scan. Nowadays, very few Thai Embassies operate this way, and there is no guarantee that your application will not be checked.
In more popular Thai Embassy locations, many of our students have been rejected multiple times due to their visa history or improperly closed visas. Only after properly closing their previous visa and obtaining a new passport were they able to reapply successfully and receive approval.
I guess but almost sure you do NOT have a Non Immigrant ED visa.
Look in your passport and check if you have the stamp: Extension of Stay permitted up to xx/xx/xxxx. This stamp you got at a local Immigration Office and you signed YOU understand and acknowledge the rules of this stamp.
So WHY you ask, why do you not want to follow the rules which you understand and agreed on.
If you do not cancel your Extension of Stay the fine is 500 Thb a day with a maximum of 20.000 Thb. You have to visit the Immigration Office named in that stamp and cancel this permitted to stay BEFORE you leave the country.
Please cancel it properly. I got my DTV approval one month after cancelling my edplus properly. Additional Documents concerning edu plus were requested by embassy. Can't imagine the trouble if I don't.
The Thai embassy will not process your DTV application if you still holds other type of Thai visas. They will request yiu to cancel it before they can continue process the dtv application
