TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible for a traveler to be refused entry into Thailand even with a valid 2-month Thai visa. Various factors, including the immigration officer's discretion and the traveler's past entry history, can influence this decision. Situations such as inappropriate attire or the number of prior entries may also play a role. Travelers are advised to be prepared with cash, accommodation proof, and onward travel confirmation to increase their chances of a smooth entry.

Little things like number of people behind you, what you are wearing, bad hair day for the IO, entry point, etc. can make a huge difference so yes

How much money do you have to show with a multi non O? I have to do a visa run next month
Tod *********
IF you are asked (which unless you're entering via a southern land border you won't be) you would show 20K baht or the equivalent.

Hi all, i have a simple question regarding the 7 days to leave. My TR extension finishes 27 December (the 90 days), so if i go to immigration can i get more 30 days or the 7 days to leave at 1900b??? im currently in Bangkok. thanks in advance.
Tod *********
you're right
@Da***
, (y) it's not a red mark at all,

it means for one reason or another you couldn't get an extension and were given 7 days to leave the country.
João *******
Ok thank you all, that's what i needed to know. I just need the 7 days till next year :)
Jonn *********
Yes.

This is correct.

Thanks Tod.

Its a denial of extension.

Buy is actually a permission to take a further 7 days before leaving.

Hope that makes sense.

Its not a red mark against you.
Tod *********
@Jo**
, if you already got one 30 day extension on your tourist visa then all you get is the "extension denied" 7 day stamp to get out of thailand for 1900baht.
Jonn *********
Not sure regards Thai national holidays in December and close days?
Jonn *********
Bkk.

If its local for you.

If you are in the back blocks.

Weigh the fine v the travel or inconvenience factor.

@Jeremy *******
I know that is that is plan!! ;)
João *******
@Jeremy *******
that would be a good idea!!!But i cant stay that long. thanks
Jeremy ********
@João ******
you can then remember you get 2 land border crossings for 2018 starting in jan
João *******
@David ******
Ok, can i go to Immigration here in Bkk for the 7 days then?
Jeremy ********
@David ******
or land border bounce...seeing you expire on 27 dec you will have to stay in Cambodia/Laos/Burma/Malaysia/Indonesia until 1 Jan than return regaining your 2 land border crossings for 2018...
Jonn *********
My understanding is.

You had 60 days

Extension of 30 days

You could apply for 7 days at 1900 baht.

And leave.

NO 30 days on a 30 days extend.

@Tod ********
had to edit sorry.
Tod *********
and the question is?
Jonn *********
2 waivers was the limit but that is changed now.

TR has no restrictions on the number of times.

Pay the fee and get. 60 days.

I was told at Jomtien that i had too many.

But that was one individual I/O flexing its muscles.

And said i had seven days to leave.

But did not stamp on the passport such.

Sadly no recourse without stuffing things up.
Jonn *********
Nice polite forum too BTW.

Well impressed.

One out there seems to be a place for individuals to attack each other. LOL.
Jonn *********
I had two passports and the desire to be here was growing HaHa.

I know it changed about 2015 then in 2017.

Ive taken the long term option now.

TR to O.

O to Retirement extension grant.
Tod *********
@Da***
, WOW, :O well, with that number of tourist visas almost any immigration officer might get the impression you're living here on them :/ Sorry it happened, you could have appealed that decision had you wanted to push it, glad you've found a long term solution (y)
Jonn *********
Mine was 30 extension of the TR. Sixty day.

Ive had it before.

Just pedantics on the day.

Im on O pending retirement now.

So hopefully its all history.
Tod *********
-the two 30 day visa exempt entries in a calendar year rule has not changed :/ BUT it is only for land crossings.

-There is no official limit by air.

-You were told you had 7 days to leave at an immigration office NOT at an entry point though so it doesn't count as being denied entry.

-Remember though on a 30 day visa exempt entry it is totally up to the officer if they want to let you get a 30 day extension or sell you the 7 days to get out of thailand stamp instead and you cannot appeal the decision :/ .

-It is written like that in the rules when they started offering 30 day extensions on a 30 day visa exempt stamp back on Aug 29th 2014.

Most definitely YES.

Yes

The answer is yes.

It's almost impossible that you will get refused entry into Thailand if this is your first few Tourist Visas. Unless you're trying to enter on a visa after the "enter before date". Maybe if you're on your 10th Tourist Visa the percentage gets lower and lower but you certainly shouldn't lose sleep if its your first thai visa.
Jason ******
@Walter ********
If its your first time coming to Thailand with a valid visa, what could possible be the reason you get refused entry? Unless you have a warrant out for your arrest or something. Never say never, but if someone has little to no history in Thailand coming in with a valid visa, I would say it is damn near impossible they would get refused entry
Walter *********
impossible, no but unlikely.

Reminds me..... what happened with that American lady with the 6 month METV detained at Krabi. Did she ever get to come into the country or did she have to go back to the US?
Dori *******
Had to go back to US. Wasn't allowed out of the airport. Getting a new passport now and will try and come back soon. Most likely to a different airport tho.

Oh and they do a lot of 20.000 Bhat spot checks at the moment.

Passport history of what the I/O deems excess of entries via combination of previous Tourist Visas and Exempt Entries that in the judgment of the I/O indicates possibly working (no specific rule or number needed). I know of 30 day Extension applications being turned into 7 days to Exit Thailand. Not common place - but can happen.
Robert ********
Unusual but certainly not unheard of...
Sam ******
A visa is not a guarantee that you will be allowed to enter in the kingdom. It all depends on the immigration officers. They have to check certain things i.e. 20K baht , accomodation proof, onward travel confirmation, etc.
