Good day. I am from South Africa and want to visit my Son and grandson who is Thai/South Africa. My Grandson lives with his father my son in Hat Yai.

I want to visit them for 60 days, do I apply upfront for visa or can I get 60 days entry on arrival.

If I stay for 60 days, will I a 30 day extention if I want to stay longer or not?

Thank you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can enter Thailand on a visa-exempt stamp for 60 days. This entry can typically be extended by an additional 30 days at the local immigration office, allowing for a longer stay if desired. However, be cautious with airline policies, as they may require proof of onward travel within the initial 60-day stay.

Do you ever talk with your son? I would think he would be able to give you answers you would be able to 100% trust.

You will get 60-days visa-exempt which can be extended, but be aware your airline may ask for a onward/return ticket within the initial 60 day period.
