Unfortunately this is the thai VISA advice group, :/ and not the I need to renew my british passport in Chiang Mai group :O

Be that as it may, you can't renew ANY UK passport at the consulate. They contract it out to a company called VFS Global.

Follow this link and it will tell you how to get a new UK passport.
