2 Questions regarding a Non Imm O retirement visa.

I know this isn't the typical way but it's how my flights worked out. I have a trip booked, flights and hotel booked for October. I'm there only for 7 weeks but plan on returning in the New year, potentially for good.

Could I open a bank account in October to get those 3 months maturity then when I return in January finish off the visa with the 3 months already done. Haven't come across anyone doing this so wasn't sure if it's doable

Secondly, is it advisable to transfer in the 65k per month as soon an you open the account for the second year? Id be using this to live off anyway?

TIA
Answer summary
The user inquired about the feasibility of opening a bank account under a Non Imm O retirement visa during a short visit in October and whether they could use these funds to meet the financial requirements when returning in January. Community responses indicated that it is possible to open a bank account upon arrival, but cautioned about the need for a re-entry permit if leaving Thailand before applying for the visa extension. It's advised to transfer the necessary 65,000 THB monthly amount as soon as possible to meet the requirements for the subsequent year.

You come in October with a 90days nonO immediately open a bank acct and bankin your 800k get a re entry permit so your nonO is alive when coming back in January....do your 1yr extension before your 90days nonO expire.....once u get your 1yr extension it is advised to bank in 65k from the very same month and not touching your 800k ...so by your next extension application u already have 12mths of 65k deposit

You could get a re-entry permit for your January entry then start your extension immediately if you set up and fund your bank account in the first few weeks of your initial stay. Or you could get a new Non-O for your January entry as your initial 90 day entry stamp will be terminated if you leave without a re-entry permit. Would you prefer your annual extension to be every January or every April is one consideration for these two options.

Eric Bogaerts WHICH MEANS: he has to start receiving 65k more or less immediately. So after his first extension, he can show the monthly income. Yeah: not imediatly, but around the same time he gets his first extension.

If you arrive in October with a Non-O visa then you could indeed open a bank account and place your funds in it. But you would also need a re-entry permit when you leave and be back in Thailand in good time to apply for the extension of stay so it's all going to depend on your dates. If you can't do all of that inside the original 90 days you were stamped in for, you would need to get another 90 day Non-O visa to return in January
