Hi everyone,

Ive seen you’re not allowed to enter Thailand during application is still in process which is understandable.

But if I apply in one country, can I visit a neighbouring county for a short period of time during this and either enter Thailand once accepted / or head back to original country of application before?
Answer summary
The consensus is that while it may be tempting to leave the country where you applied for your Thai visa, doing so risks cancellation of your application. Most commenters emphasize that applicants should remain in the country of application during the entire process. There are practical examples where individuals left and still got their visas approved, but they faced potential issues such as having to provide extensive documentation to prove their stay. This suggests a significant risk involved in leaving before the visa application is finalized.

You need to stay in the country you are applying during the whole application process

If you’re going to do it make sure you’ve got enough proof you were in the application country. I applied in Da Nang and 8 days after submission I was asked for a photograph of myself (with proof of date) by a well known monument/or tourist attraction. I did also supply a receipt from a local restaurant that showed their address and the date and proof that I paid on my card just to be on the safe side.

My application was approved 4 days later.

You need to remain in the jurisdiction of the consulate you applied through until the application process completes

I had to leave the country i applied in, so came to thailand and my dtv was approved 1.5 weeks after arriving in thailand. I then left the country and came back in on my dtv with no issues at all.

If you leave the country of Application before your application is completed, you risk having your application cancelled if the Thai embassy find out you left that country. They do check. They might ask you to send pictures of every page in your passport, including all the blank pages, which will show that you left the country. Result, immediate visa application cancellation. They might also ask you to go into the Embassy for an interview. If you already left the country, that also would be a problem and cancellation of your application.

It’s just not worth taking the risk. Enjoy the country that you are in, until you get your visa approved.

Results may vary.

You can do what ever you want.

But the conditions state that you must remain in the country of application.

Chances are you may not get caught but if you do that’s on you.

There has been numerous post of people having “extra documents requested “

Please provide a copy of every page of passport

KnowledgeableRaccoon5198 no conditions state that at all. It's just that some embassies will request interviews, so you have to stay.

I called my embassy asked them about leaving Australia and having to Japan during the process and they told me it wasn't a problem.

Unfortunately, it appears that each embassy runs the process a bit differently.

What I'd personally do, which is exactly what OP is suggesting is you to a not so far country, in case I wanted to start having over and wait until the DTV was approved to them enter Thailand.

(I left for Japan, I'm actually still here and received my DTV 2.5 weeks ago...)

Getting approval and doing it off ur own bat is two different things………

One of the first pop up messages when apply for the DTV says you must remain in the country or jurisdiction of application.
