Hey, quick question. If my visa ends on Jan 29 can i get the extension on Jan 29 or do I have to get it by Jan 28.

So does the date on the visa include that day or no?

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can obtain a visa extension on the expiration date itself (January 29), but it's important to note that the effective date for either the "Extension of stay" or the "Admitted to" stamp should not pass this date. It's also advisable not to delay the process, especially considering that immigration offices may have long waits.

I wdnt leave it late.. now they are seriously busy and online queue etc

The date your visa expires is not relevant. What is relevant is the date of either your "Extension of stay" OR your "Admitted to" stamp.

If your "Extension of Stay" or "Admitted to" stamp ends on January 29, the last day you can get an extension of stay is January 29.

The advice here is almost unifornly to go early. There is no loss of days by going early on a covid 60 day extension if that is your concern. I went on Friday 22nd and Iwent early previously with no loss of days.

Derek Gygax. If you're in Bangkok, make a booking. The 29th at immigration is going to be a shitfight, and I'm sure many will be turned away.

What is your current Extension of stay, and what extension of stay are you getting. Depending on your situation, you may have to cancel your existing extension of stay.

I arrived in thailand March 2020 with ‘Visa on Arrival’. Since then I have done one extension, then amnesty, then 60 day extensions. I am just getting another 60 day extension. I never changed my visa to education or volunteer, just extensions on the original ‘visa on arrival’

you’ll be fine. Go on the 29th and get the extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19
