Got my SETV recently in Hanoi.

As my plans changed and I hv to go back to Germany for a short period, I am wondering if I can enter Thailand on the 30 days visa exemption instead of the SETV? I'd like to save it for a later period when i am coming back.

I will enter Thailand from Vietnam on 6th of July and leave 6 days later for germany.

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) acquired in Hanoi and is questioning if they can enter Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption instead of their SETV. Community members clarify that the SETV must be used as issued and suggest entering Thailand on a single entry tourist visa, which allows for a re-entry permit to maximize the validity of the visa.

Just buy the re entry

you could enter thailand on the single entry tourist visa and then buy a single re-entry permit for 1000baht. That would get you stamped back in for the expiration date of the stamp you got when you entered on the tourist visa so it wouldn't all go to waste.

Nope you don’t get to pick and choose when to use the SETV....
