Hi! My local immigration office confirmed that one can change from a Tourist Visa to a Non-B Visa within Thailand. Would immigration view a Visa Exempt in the same light as a Tourist Visa for these purposes? Thus, would I be able to change from Visa Exempt to Non-B within Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, similar to changing a Tourist Visa, you can change from a Visa Exempt to a Non-B Visa while in Thailand, as immigration authorities generally treat Visa Exempt and Tourist Visa in the same manner.

It should be fine. Visa exempt and tourist visa are pretty much treated the same.

agree. If the office is ok with it then shouldn't be a problem. Your accountant might freak out though
