Yeah, easy. But you can own just 49% of any registered company. As for business just ensure that you have a contract proving you own the business

What visa you have has no effect on your ability to buy a business. But just having a business also does not inherently give you any visa or any right to stay in Thailand. You also won't be able to work at your business unless you have a work permit and a visa that allows work.

and set up a company and put the buisness in it iotherwise if in thai name you may loose it if anything wrong was to happen

OPI presume all the set up- banking, tax and anything needed is set up by your Thai business partners while awaiting to chnage to a non -im visa?
