I am currently living in Thailand long term on an OA retirement visa. My question is, am I allowed legally to invest in or own a company on this visa? I have no intention of actually working đ
Can anyone point me at any laws/rules that exist around this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A holder of an OA retirement visa in Thailand is legally allowed to own or invest in a company, provided that they do not engage in any work for the business. Previous concerns regarding the definition of 'working' have become less of an issue with evolving regulations, and ownership is now accepted as permissible.

You are absolutely allowed to own or invest on that type of visa. As long as you donât actually work for the business itâs not an issue. Way back there used to be issues with âownersâ and whatâs determined as âworkingâ as in if you signed a cheque for that company you could be classified as working for it, but I think thatâs way in the past and Thai authorities have moved on from that.
