Hi, is there anyone who can advise me with a good lawyer/company to help me in the process of getting Thai citizenship? I speak Thai and have been here 14 years continuously and am married to a Thai citizen for almost 16 years.....Thanks for your help!

So I don't know anything about the citizen ship process and since Todd had mentioned it's different for women, I clicked on your pictures to confirm. My thai girl friend and I thought they were adorable and really show how you have assimilated well here. I'd print some of them and bring with you in case they ask you about your life here during this process.

you do realize that the process for a foreign woman married to a thai man to get granted thai nationality is NOT near as convoluted and perilous as that of a foreign man married to a thai woman doing the same thing.

And you are a foreign women married to a thai man?

You certainly don't need a lawyer to process the thai citizenship AND you could have applied after 5 years of marriage to a thai as a foreign female.

after 5 years of marriage to a thai, after 5 years of unbroken extensions of stays, after working legally here all those years and earning the minimum salary here required by their nationality, paying into the social security system and filing taxes, YEP, no need to apply for permanent resident status you can go straight to thai nationality.

I know but they always discouraged this at local immigration so I've just always postponed it.....I'm hesitant because of the pile of paperwork which is a hassle already extending my marriage visa......So not something I look forward to but I'm sure it's worth it.

the local immigration has NO say in it. You don't apply for thai citizenship at the local immigration office.

In all likelihood they don't know their ass from their elbow about it (seeing as they don't fool with it in the least).
