TLDR : Answer Summary
The situation for obtaining a Thai visa from Laos is currently restrictive, as both the Thai consulates in Savannakhet and Vientiane have stopped accepting walk-in applications and are fully booked for appointments until January. If you need to apply in person, it is advised to go to the Thai consulate in Taipei, Taiwan, before December 27th, which still allows walk-in applications without appointments.

Currently in Laos. Must have an appointment. Embassy will close soon and will only be open again in January

you're a day late and a dollar short thinking you're going to go to Lao and get ANY visa from either thai consulate there (Savannakhet or Vientiane)

BOTH stop accepting walk in applications this Friday AND both are booked up for appointments to get in the gate <- you can't get IN to apply without an appt

You want to use a "walk up", "in person" consulate you go to the thai consulate in Taipei Taiwan and apply <- BEFORE the 27th of Dec (the day they stop allowing walk inz)

They don't require an appt just show up and apply

this is true, I did not know about the appointments and booked a flight to Vientiane, only to realize I could not get appt. Got appt in Savannakhet, and booked another flight from Vientiane to there.

They are all switching to evisa only as of Jan 1, and there is now no way to book an appointment before then.

Hmm thanks problem is i have an workpermit until 23rd of jan that needs to end. After that I need to leave get a tourist visa. And I have that for 2 months. For worst case scenario is to buy and ed visa. Got this email but I dont believe it's true. Who knows maybe things change and more mearby countries open up. I know that you can do it online in vietnam for now.

gave you the best advice I could, you want a DTV at an in person consulate (that has fast turn around for the visa) you slog on over to Taipei and get it before the 27th 🙂

Otherwise you wait and go to a S/E Asia country and apply online, then stay IN that country until the visa is approved 😕

Good luck with it,

yeah I would but my workpermit ends automatically 23rd Jan 2025 I have my hopes up that other countries in sea open up online for dtv. I believe Hanoi would be a good choice.

who cares about the work permit? Just go and apply for the visa, a work permit doesn't let you stay here it lets you WORK here on the correct visa

GO get the DTV and then after the new year cancel the work permit

But you guys told me to go to taipei I cant apply for any visa until my work visa has ended to a tourist visa. My thought was to then apply bymyself hopefully from laos if it has changed 23 rd jan 2025 (or vietnam or cambodja) so I not need to go all the way to Taiwan.

@Patrik ******
and that is fraudulently obtained DTV Visa. Costing approximately 90,000 Thai baht. Not 🚫❌ wise to do that

It's easy to get the DTV Visa yourself.

@Patrik ******
that's from a agent that is lying to the eVisa online system to apply for a visa for you while you're in thailand

You cannot apply for an eVisa FROM thailand

Suggest you RUSH to Taipei.

Laos requires appointment and none available for December
