We are an Aussie couple with condo in Rawai

We have 60 day visa with 30day extension which means we need to leave Thailand October 3rd .

Does anyone know if we can leave here for 1-2 weeks overseas and be able to get another visa so we can stay until January which will be an extra 90 days ,

Thanks Sharlene

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian couple in Rawai, currently holding a 60-day visa with a 30-day extension, is looking for advice on how to obtain another visa to stay in Thailand until January after leaving for 1-2 weeks. Respondents confirm that they can obtain a new tourist visa from nearby countries and suggest that while it's usually fine to get multiple back-to-back tourist visas, excessive attempts may raise concerns with immigration. Additionally, suggestions are made regarding the process for extensions and where to apply.

How and where did you get your 30 day extension

From your local Immigration Office where your TM30 is filed but check their local requirements using the following as it can differ

You don't need to go overseas from bkk to get visa. Just go another country.

We also use the same term overseas hence the term "seas" lol. And I get what you mean that they can cross border Myanmar/Cambodia/Laos to get another 90 days.
Jonas *************
They are asking to leave here (Thailand) to go overseas. Do you miss that? Overseas from here better be like Bali, or Japan, or USA, australia.

Overseas from Bangkok would be to cross a sea. That some English island people, when they leave their island, are going overseas, is one thing. But when you go from Thailand to Cambodia your are not going overseas...

The world isn't defined by your "native English islands".

Overseas != Abroad always.

But you seems to have decided I'm stupid because I'm " not native". So condescending.

you right, this people just speak eng and feel like they are superior... usa assxole expecially... sxit people just speak 1 language 555
Jonas *************
I understand the word. However, it's not appropriate to use it as it implies elsewhere (transport by sea) from where you are.

I'm choosing not to do guesses about your intelligence.

Your comment is unwarranted.

Unless you choose to explain what you mean and what you think that I don't understand.

For Brits overseas meaning going abroad/leaving the UK as it involves crossing one sea at least.

I guess you're not a native English speaker.

Pre covid the consulate in Penang wouldn’t issue a tourist visa if you had an overstay stamp in your passport. I assume that policy hasn’t changed.
Stuart *********
Yes you can. You can get a tourist visa in a nearby consulate like Laos, Singapore, Malaysia, etc. Check the website of the consulate/embassy you intend to use as some require online appointments before applying.

You’ll normally be fine with 1 (perhaps 2 or 3 even) back to back tourist visa, but if you try for too many you may be questioned by immigration on arrival as to why.

For long term stay is elite, retirement, or one year education the only realistic option?
Stuart *********
@Rosie ********
it depends on a number of factors. If you’re under 50 then “Elite” is probably the easiest if you have funds. Over 50 then retirement, but there are numerous options in between. Agents exist to make things happen. For a price of course.

I'm in my twenties so from what i can tell saving for an elite may be best.

Malaysia are okay to give out TR to non residents ?

@Gordon *******
Pre covid they were. I couldn’t say for certain since but I believe so.

@Stuart ********
well I’m going next week, I’ll let you all know.

@Gordon *******
KL or Penang? KL require appointments. I think Penang is still rock up and apply.
Gordon ********
@Stuart ********
KL, better make an appointment then
Stuart *********
@Gordon *******
on their website they have a check list of what you need. Print it out. Check all the boxes and you’ll get your visa. At least that’s how it used to work.
Gordon ********
@Stuart ********
yes I checked it, actually they ask for full paid accommodation, which is also asked for on all consulate website, I’ve never provided paid accommodation before so hopefully they accept.
Stuart *********
@Gordon *******
or book somewhere on Agoda or Booking that is cancellable. Get visa then cancel.
Gordon ********
Do you know if there are any restrictions on entering from a different country? For example I’m getting my visa in KL but I won’t use it for almost a month and will likely arrive in Thailand from Hong Kong.
Gordon ********
@Stuart ********
yes I always do that. Their check list asks for paid with tax number but they always accept the cancellable booking.

I'm assuming they would accept a copy of my chanote?
