Hi, I wonder if a traveller holding TR visa can open a bank account in Thailand? If so, which bank? (I've asked multiple banks but no luck).

TLDR : Answer Summary
A traveler holding a TR visa can open a bank account in Thailand, although it may require visiting several banks to find one willing to do so. Suggestions include using banks like Bangkok Bank, especially at branches located in tourist areas such as shopping malls. If banks decline, using an agent may be a viable option, generally costing around 4-8,000 baht, with some agents providing services without requiring additional insurance, depending on the traveler's visa validity.

First choice should be Bangkok Bank, try the branches in the tourist places... Malls, Shopping centers etc. Or... to save time and nerves... look for an agent... ๐Ÿ˜‰

An agent charge normally 4-5 000 baht and are able to open without any insurance if you have minimum 15 days left on your stamp.

Is it possible? Probably, if you try 20-50 bank branches, you might eventually find one that will do it, or one that will do it if you buy the 5000 baht insurance from the bank.

Otherwise you'll need to use an agent to do it.
