TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion reveals that various visa scams, particularly related to TDAC, are prevalent among expats in Thailand. Users highlight issues with visa agents, urging caution and advising that many people are overpaying for services they could handle independently. Concerns are raised about ED visas being subjected to increased scrutiny and the actions of immigration authorities tightening controls. However, there's also debate over the reliability of agents, with some claiming to have successfully used reputable services. Overall, the conversation underscores the need for vigilance and self-advocacy when navigating the visa process in Thailand.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be agents.co.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

Once thank you all comments
Julius *********
Yes. And you will not know you have been scammed until you go to renew the VISA next year and find out they will not allow you to do so because the agent and Immigration Officer were arrested for the scam and all related VISAS are NOT renewable.
John ********
Maybe but 7-11 has all the dirt on scams. Go there, have a coffee and talk to Thais behind the counter.

lots of reputable agents

@James *****
You cannot use "reputable" and "visa agent" in the same sentence πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†
Bill *********
@Andy ***********
I can use in the same sentence and would happily do it all over again. My agent did a great job for me.
Andy ************
@Bill ********
I couldn't justify spending 20,000+ baht for something I can do myself in a couple of hours. If I pay myself to do simple visa extensions it's 10,000 baht per hour tax free I'm getting. That works for me! πŸ‘πŸ˜†
Bill *********
@Andy ***********
Everybody has their own business plan!
Andy ************
@Bill ********
Exactly. And a business that nets me 20,000 baht tax free for two hours sitting in an air-conditioned office reading a book is a pretty good one. 95% of my income is from managed super funds, stockmarket returns and investment properties, which is all "passive" - I don't have to lift a solitary finger!
David **********
@Bill ********
I'm retired im not rich I do things myself
Bill *********
@David *********
I understand. I've hung out with a few successful people and learned to delegate or outsource tasks to others when possible. I save that time for myself to do strategic thinking for my business or for education, and the rewards far out size the cost. And those costs are so much lower in Thailand it makes it even more doable.
Don-Laura *******
@Andy ***********
Sure you can. I do. Mine's awesome, honest, and legit. Been using them for years, and their fees aren't like what others have mentioned for the scammers. One must be careful though in who they go with.
Andy ************
@Don-Laura ******
If you're using an agent to bypass the financial criteria, it's hardly "legit" πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Don-Laura *******
I don't bypass the criteria, but for those that do, yeah, that's not legit. I follow the requirements to the "T" - always my own money in the bank, always staying within the guidelines of balances, etc. I'm just lazy when it comes to going to immigration and doing all the paperwork, hence my paying someone else to do that for me.

okay I now understand there great agents out there how do you find one???

ED visas due to abuse by Chinese nationals and agent obtained DTV’s from neighbouring countries are being clamped down on currently.
Tommi *******
@Pete ******
heard the same..alot being revoked.
Ronny *****
@Pete ******
who’s clamping down on DTV?
Nongnuch ********
@Ronny ****
he is confusing DTV with Non-ED visas
Pete *******
@Ronny ****
Immigration Police, been all over the news in the last few months.
Nongnuch ********
@Pete ******
Your story is a fairy tale . . . . . .there are no clampdowns on DTV visa holders. There however are clampdowns on ED-visa holders who don't attend school lessons. It has been all over the news recently
Pete *******
@Nongnuch *******
Immigration is aware that agents are providing one stop shop services in Laos and Cambodia offering to provide full documentation and financial resources to obtain DTVs for between 100k - 150k. I have read reports in these forums of enhanced scrutiny for holders of these visas.
Ronny *****
@Pete ******
haven’t heard anything like that and it definitely hasn’t been β€œall over the news”.
Michael ********
If you are going to use an agent use a reputable one. Cheapest aint always the best. Samui & Phuket agents have a bad rep and people have been deported because of there agents failures
Logan *********
@Michael *******
just spend 1-2 hours educating yourself on the requirements yourself and save several hundred and a few headaches

It all depends on how you define scam…every visa you do by yourself without an agent needed at all

just to add -- tdac is free. Any website that charges you for it is a scam.
