What should I do about my Thai visa during the blanket amnesty period?

I'm on a tourist visa, already "normally" extended until April 18th. I have my embassy COVID extension letter, my question is: should I consider April 30th to be my new date and wait until the 20 something or 30th to decide whether or not to use my letter, or can I only go before the 18th to qualify for a covid extension?
