Many thanks for the responses. I'm working in an international school and I have a work permit and I'm settled and I'm on my third waiver (I don't need a job or a work permit or want to teach a language as some of the above suggests. I apologise if I was unclear in my initial post). I've been told that pre-covid, your pgce and experience would get you a long term teaching licence, now the krusapa wants you to do a 7 module course (which was due to be released last march but still has not been) if not a registered teacher in your home country. It seems mad for me to pay for that when I'm paying for my PhD- there's zero time and zero money left. The HR at my school is, let's just say, not on the ball. Not at all. It's pretty shocking. They've pretty much said they don't know if I can get a long term license and to find out it would take a very long time.
