What are examples of soft power activities that have qualified for DTV besides Muay Thai and cooking? I will be living in Khon Kaen and am interested in learning the language and culture, attending festivals, visiting temples and learning more about Buddhism. I haven’t found anything at Khon Kaen University (I think I need to learn from a Thai language tutor and immersion before taking a college class offered in Thai).
I'm applying through HCMC on a soft power visa. Just got a request for supporting documents.
All pretty straightforward, except for proof of monthly income, ending with: "Additionally, please describe your plans after completing the course while holding a 5-year visa."
I would naturally go with something along, "if all goes well I would like to enroll in an advanced program" but I'm wondering if there are any red flags I'm missing.
Had anyone been asked that, and if so, what would be a proper answer?
I was approved for my DTV on soft power in May. The course I used to qualify is 'Arun Thai Cooking'. They worked with me and my agent to make the process smooth. Since starting the class, I've already cooked multiple authentic Thai dishes. I highly recommend checking them out if you are interested in learning about the Thai Cooking culture on your DTV!
I am considering a DTV, but even though I'm a digital nomad seeking a visa to live and work remotely in the country (Workcation, they call it), I might just have to apply with soft power. Why is that? Because I have no employment contract as a freelancer, my type of work isn't well represented by a portfolio of examples and as I only stay 3 months in any single country (until the DTV anyway), I have no tax residence and so they might fallback on tax returns, which I cannot provide.
Isn't this really just the most convenient way, just sending a Thai cooking class letter or perhaps for a Thai language course?
Now, one of the reasons I would prefer the former option (Workcation) is because I like the visa's clarity in terms of working legally in the country within 180 days a year, even if no one would on tourist visas anyway. I'm not sure this is granted with soft power. Thanks.
I am an American and have traveled the world most of my life. Too many countries so never learned anything more than a few phrases of various languages.
At the age of 57, not sure if I can even do it?
Any subliminal learning techniques so I can listen while I sleep?
Do not mind purchasing a good program if that is best.
Those that have learned I would like to hear from you. Thanks in advance.
