Arriving on December 27th for my 4th visit on visa waiver from USA since February 2025. I am planning to take girlfriend to Japan for a week during my one month stay. I have never extended during any stay and am looking at 80 days in Thailand this year up to this point. Does anyone have good information regarding if this travel will be frowned upon or outright denied now that the crackdown is happening?
Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about potential issues with traveling to Japan during their one-month stay in Thailand on a visa waiver, especially given increased scrutiny on visa policies. Community responses indicate that as long as the user does not have a history of border bounces or visa extensions and maintains a regular tourist profile, they should not face problems. However, it's advised to be prepared with necessary documentation, including proof of sufficient funds, an onward ticket, and accommodation bookings, especially when re-entering Thailand after their trip.
you won't have a problem. Just in case you get asked, be ready to show US Dollars equivalent of 20,000 THB in cash, a ticket out of Thailand within the 60 days you will get stamped in, and a few booked first nights after entry. You stamp history within a 1-year period will be a total of 80+60 = 140 days, which is below the maximum of 157 days on visa exempt short stays, never extended. However you might be frowned upon on your return from Japan, doing another visa-exempt entry. Because by then you have had a stay of 80+30 = 110, and another 60 days will carry you to 170 days within a one-year period. That's when you must be able to show the three proofs, again. Good Luck!
