We are two Canadians entering Thailand by air from Laos tomorrow. I understand that we are visa exempt for 30 days. My husband will go to Canada on Feb and return to Thailand on Feb 9. Will this affect his status or should he apply for a multi entry visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian couple entering Thailand will receive a 30-day visa exemption upon arrival. If the husband leaves for Canada and returns on February 9, he will be issued a new 30-day visa exemption upon re-entry, so a multi-entry visa is not necessary.

Time is to short to apply for any visa, it take two working days.

You both get a 30 day Visa Exempt Entry (no visa) and if he leaves, his 30 days period will be cancelled and on return he get a new 30 day Visa Exempt Entry.
